Activity Name: Half-Day Art Camp – Outdoor Nature Sketching Off-site Location: Brookline Drive Trail (Entrance at 260 Talus Ave, Bedford, NS B4B 2G3)
1. Out-Trip Authorization & Nature Sketching Consent
- I hereby give my permission for my child to participate in the outdoor sketching trip to the Brookline Drive Trail.
- I understand that the children will be walking or transported to the trail under the supervision of Joyful staff to engage in art activities in a natural environment.
2. Mandatory Health & Safety Preparation (Pest Protection)
To ensure the safety of participants against insects and ticks, I agree to provide and prepare the following for my child:
- Clothing: I will ensure my child wears long pants and long socks (tucking pants into socks is recommended) and a hat to minimize skin exposure.
- Repellent: I will provide insect repellent (specifically effective against mosquitoes and ticks) and give permission for Joyful staff to assist in re-applying if necessary.
- Tick Check: I acknowledge that while staff will monitor the children, it is my responsibility to perform a thorough tick check on my child after they return home from the camp.
3. Assumption of Risk (Natural Environment)
- I understand that outdoor activities on nature trails involve certain risks, including but not limited to: uneven terrain, tripping hazards (roots/rocks), contact with poisonous plants (e.g., poison ivy), and unpredictable weather.
- I agree to release Joyful Learning Center from liability for any natural occurrences or minor injuries sustained during the trail outing, provided they are not the result of gross negligence.
4. Environmental & Safety Conduct
- I have discussed with my child the importance of staying within the visual boundary set by the teachers and respecting nature (not picking plants, not disturbing wildlife, and "leaving no trace" of art supplies/trash).
